Micron announces availability of the 245TB Micron 6600 ION SSD, the world's highest capacity commercially available SSD for data centers.
Micron Technology announced the start of shipments for the 245TB Micron 6600 ION SSD, the world's highest capacity commercially available SSD designed for AI, cloud, and hyperscale data center workloads.
The drive requires 82% fewer racks compared to HDD-based deployments and consumes only half the power of comparable HDD solutions while delivering up to 84 times better energy efficiency for AI workloads.
Built with Micron's G9 QLC NAND technology, the 245TB capacity enables data centers to significantly reduce physical footprint, power consumption, and cooling requirements while supporting performance-intensive, data-intensive applications. The SSD is available in both U.2 and E3.L form factors and will be showcased at Dell Tech World in May 2026.
