Amazon MSK Now Supports Configuring Custom Domain Names for MSK Provisioned Clusters

AWS, Monday, August 17th, 2026

Amazon MSK adds cluster-level custom domain names for Provisioned clusters in both ZooKeeper and KRaft modes.

Amazon MSK now lets customers configure custom domain names on Provisioned clusters using either ZooKeeper or KRaft for metadata management. Client applications can keep the same connection endpoints, which simplifies cluster migrations, disaster recovery failovers and scaling operations without reconfiguration.

Previously customers had to configure custom domain names manually on each broker, and KRaft-based clusters could not be configured at all.

With this launch the domain is defined once at the cluster level and MSK applies it automatically. The capability removes a long-standing operational burden for teams running Kafka on AWS.
