ARC Region switch automates failover orchestration for Amazon RDS databases running Oracle Data Guard across Regions.
AWS launched the Amazon RDS Switchover Read Replica execution block in ARC Region switch, automating recovery orchestration for Amazon RDS databases running Oracle Data Guard in multi-Region workloads. Amazon Application Recovery Controller Region switch helps customers orchestrate failover of multi-Region applications to achieve a bounded recovery time during a Regional impairment.
Recovering an RDS database running Oracle Data Guard during a Regional failover previously required manual steps to reverse the roles of the primary database and its replica. The new execution block folds that sequence into the automated runbook.
It removes a manual step that lengthened and added risk to recovery time.
