Veeam's guidance for small businesses is that backup order should follow business impact rather than whatever is easiest to back up. Financial, customer and compliance data come first, ahead of general files or individual devices.
The post stresses that Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and most SaaS platforms are not backed up by the vendor on the customer's behalf, a gap many small businesses assume is covered.
It also notes that tiering data decides recovery speed, since not everything needs to come back online at once, and observes that most small businesses do not lose everything at once but lose something nobody thought to protect.
