AI Hardware Shortages: How Enterprises Can Do More With Existing Infrastructure

SUSE, Wednesday, July 15th, 2026

SUSE survey finds 30% of IT teams delayed projects over GPU shortages while 79% run infrastructure below 75% capacity.

SUSE published findings from a Customer Reference Panel survey of 110 IT professionals on the impact of AI hardware scarcity.

Thirty percent reported significant delays to regular IT projects caused by GPU and accelerator shortages, with 39% citing insufficient GPUs or specialized servers and 36% pointing to procurement delays.

Yet 79% said their infrastructure runs below 75% capacity, and 80% agreed software that runs workloads efficiently across old and new hardware beats buying the latest silicon.

SUSE points to AI Factory, Rancher Prime and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as vendor-neutral ways to cut hardware dependence.
