AI Makes Low-Severity Vulnerabilities More Dangerous

LinuxInsider, Thursday, July 16th, 2026

AI-assisted attack tooling is making bugs once dismissed as low severity far more exploitable and dangerous.

Vulnerabilities historically rated low severity are becoming materially more dangerous in the AI era. AI-assisted tooling lowers the effort required to discover, weaponize, and chain minor flaws into serious compromises.

This challenges traditional CVSS-driven triage, where low-scoring issues are routinely deprioritized or left unpatched for long periods. The implication for security teams is that patch prioritization and risk models need to account for how easily attackers can now automate exploitation.
