The Journey Towards Logically Air-Gapped Deployment

Cisco, Friday, July 24th, 2026

Cisco proposes a logically air-gapped model using eBPF to secure critical infrastructure without physical isolation.

Cisco proposes a logically air-gapped governance model that combines cloud-native agility with strict security controls for critical infrastructure.

Rather than physical isolation, the approach uses eBPF and Cilium to create a cryptographic perimeter at the kernel level, enabling data residency, technological autonomy, and operational independence.

The solution integrates Isovalent's networking platform with Cisco Secure Workload to provide unified security across containerized, virtualized, and bare-metal environments.
