NVIDIA Unveils Spectrum-6 Ethernet for Gigascale AI Factories
HPCwire, Tuesday, July 21st, 2026
NVIDIA's Spectrum-6 is a 102.4 Tb/s Ethernet switch system delivering double the capacity of the prior generation.
NVIDIA Spectrum-6, built as part of the Vera Rubin platform, anchors the next generation of the Spectrum-X Ethernet platform for gigascale AI factories running hundreds of thousands of GPUs and CPUs.
CoreWeave, Microsoft, Nebius, SpaceXAI and Tesla will be among the first adopters.
The rationale is that peak GPU performance no longer predicts AI factory performance, since large-scale training and inference depend on thousands of accelerators exchanging data through collective communications that generate intense east-west traffic. Spectrum-6 pairs with the ConnectX-9 SuperNIC to turn Ethernet into a purpose-built AI scale-out fabric.
