Amazon Neptune Now Supports Tag-Based Access Control for IAM

AWS, Monday, July 27th, 2026

Neptune adds tag-based access control so IAM and SCP conditions can gate data-plane operations.

Amazon Neptune Database now supports tag-based access control for IAM, letting customers use AWS resource tags and IAM principal tags as conditions in IAM policies and Service Control Policies. Those conditions can gate Neptune data-plane operations, not just management actions.

Neptune already provided VPC isolation, TLS encryption, and IAM database authentication, and tag-based access control adds attribute-driven authorization on top.

The pattern scales better than enumerating resources in policy documents as graph estates grow. It is available in Regions where Neptune is offered.
