Amazon RDS for SQL Server Now Supports Restoring TDE Databases on Multi-AZ Instances

Native backup and restore of TDE-enabled SQL Server databases now works on Multi-AZ instances and read replicas.
Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports restoring Transparent Data Encryption enabled databases on Multi-AZ instances and on instances configured with a same-Region read replica, using native backup and restore.
Previously TDE-enabled restores were only available for Single-AZ instances, which forced customers to choose between encryption and high availability during migration.
The change removes a common blocker for lift-and-shift of encrypted SQL Server estates. It uses the existing native backup and restore workflow. No change is required to the encryption configuration itself.
