Amazon EKS Provisioned Control Plane Now Delivers Faster Pod Autoscaling

AWS, Tuesday, July 28th, 2026

EKS raises Horizontal Pod Autoscaler sync concurrency to up to 40 times the Kubernetes default.

Amazon EKS now delivers faster pod autoscaling across all Provisioned Control Plane clusters by raising Horizontal Pod Autoscaler sync concurrency to as much as 40 times the default Kubernetes value.

The change reduces the time HPA-driven workloads take to scale in response to increased load. For clusters running many HPA objects, the default concurrency had become a queueing bottleneck that showed up as slow reaction to traffic spikes.

The improvement applies automatically with no configuration change. It targets latency-sensitive services where scale-up delay translates directly into errors.
