KnowBe4 covered a Trustmi survey finding that most employees believe they would be able to spot a social engineering attack, but continue to rely primarily on outdated guidance such as looking for typos.
Generative AI has given attackers the ability to craft extremely convincing, error-free phishing emails, rendering those red flags obsolete. The survey suggests this overconfidence leaves companies vulnerable to AI-powered scams.
The findings point to a gap between perceived and actual detection ability. KnowBe4 uses the data to argue for updated security awareness training content.
