IBM Netezza gains in-database vector storage and similarity search, removing the need for a separate vector store.
IBM announced that Netezza now supports vector storage and similarity search directly inside the data warehouse. The capability gives teams a foundation for semantic search, retrieval-augmented generation and AI-powered analytics without standing up a separate vector database.
Keeping vectors in-database removes a data-movement and duplication step between the warehouse and an external vector store. The feature is available in Private Tech Preview at announcement.
