AI Governance Needs More Than Observability

OneTrust, Tuesday, August 11th, 2026

OneTrust argues rich AI evaluation metrics do not amount to governance without policy, ownership and evidence.

OneTrust argues enterprises are not short of AI metrics, since native evaluation frameworks in platforms such as AWS Bedrock and Azure AI Foundry already generate rich signals about model quality, safety and performance.

Its contention is that observability alone does not create governance: a score can show something changed without saying whether it violates policy, who should investigate, or how to preserve evidence of that decision.

The gap widens for enterprises running models across AWS and Azure with applications using different retrieval flows and tooling. The post frames questions about baseline drift, sensitive-information exposure and response ownership as governance rather than monitoring questions.
