Navigating the Next Phase of the EU AI Act

OneTrust, Monday, August 10th, 2026

OneTrust guides readers through EU AI Act requirements and the timeline changes in the Digital Omnibus amendments.

OneTrust provides a guide to the EU AI Act's risk-based requirements and the changes introduced by the latest Digital Omnibus amendments.

It notes the EU chose a horizontal, industry-agnostic framework spanning nearly a hundred articles, and that the Act remains a leading global benchmark for risk-based AI governance.

The Digital Omnibus amendments revise the timeline for certain high-risk obligations, moving stand-alone Annex III systems to 2 December 2027 and high-risk systems embedded in regulated products to 2 August 2028.

OneTrust stresses the amendments grant more implementation time but do not remove core expectations around risk management, documentation, human oversight and accountability.
