Manage Bare Metal Like a Cloud With Red Hat Bare-Metal-As-A-Service for OpenShift
Red Hat, Thursday, August 13th, 2026
Red Hat Bare-Metal-as-a-Service for OpenShift reaches general availability in OpenShift 4.22.
Red Hat announced that OpenShift 4.22 includes general availability support for Red Hat Bare-Metal-as-a-Service for OpenShift.
The add-on enables organisations to manage bare metal, virtual machines and application containers through the same consistent platform.
Before OpenShift 4.22, the Cluster Baremetal Operator provided centralised management for servers with Redfish support alongside containerized and virtualized workloads.
The new add-on extends OpenShift Container Platform's orchestration to treat bare metal as a cloud-like consumable resource. The post explains how the service works and where it fits.
