Introducing Portable Computer for Local-First AI

Perplexity launches Portable Computer, running its agent entirely on NVIDIA DGX Spark with cloud escalation only when needed.
Perplexity has launched Portable Computer, a version of Perplexity Computer that runs entirely on a local machine.
The company argues that some of the most valuable work people have for AI agents involves data they would rather keep on their own machines, whether private codebases or confidential material, and that local models are now strong enough to work on it in place.
Portable Computer was built with NVIDIA so users can own the stack on the NVIDIA DGX Spark desktop-sized AI computer, with availability on NVIDIA RTX GPU PCs to follow. It analyzes data and synthesizes files on device, escalating to the cloud only when a task requires it.
