The company frames the decision as consistent with its long-held belief that openness and transparency make the cybersecurity community stronger.
Sophos argues that as AI-enabled attacks become more widespread and sophisticated, the risk to businesses and to the public services communities depend on rises accordingly, making cyber defense a shared responsibility.
The letter calls for coordinated action across the private and public sectors, with frontier AI labs playing an important role. Sophos says signing is an outward expression of work it is already doing rather than a new commitment.
