ServiceNow's futures director reads five signals showing the most valuable work now sits between human judgment and machine execution.
ServiceNow argues the jobs, products and infrastructure with real momentum are being built neither on the human side of AI nor the machine side, but in the space between human judgment and machine execution.
The first signal comes from ServiceNow's Workforce Skills Forecast with Pearson, covering job growth in 12 countries, which found the fastest-growing roles are hybrid titles such as human-AI experience designer and AI ethics and trust adviser.
A second signal comes from Upwork's Future Workforce Index 2026, where AI-using freelancers earn 34% more per hour as "AI orchestrators". The piece warns that organizations budgeting technology roles and people roles separately are missing where growth is actually happening.
