The Edge Telco Market Evolves With the Needs of AI

Agile Telco, Monday, September 7th, 2026

Antony Savvas reviews edge AI moves in telecoms, including Qualcomm's Modular acquisition and Multiverse Computing's EUR 500m round.

Qualcomm has completed its acquisition of Modular, a software platform for optimizing and deploying generative and agentic AI across CPUs, GPUs, NPUs and custom silicon from edge to cloud.

Spain's Multiverse Computing raised a EUR 500m Series C at a EUR 1.5 billion pre-money valuation to scale CompactifAI, which uses tensor networks to shrink LLMs by up to 80-95% for on-device and sovereign AI.

Its customers include Allianz, Bosch and Telefonica. Multiverse is also collaborating with Qualcomm to optimize models for Dragonfly AI200 and AI250 accelerators, giving data center operators more capacity on the same hardware.
