HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 Preview: 192GB of Unified Memory Aims for the Top of the Local AI Laptop Leaderboard

StorageReview previews HP's ZBook Ultra G3a 16, a 192GB unified-memory mobile workstation built for running large LLMs locally.
StorageReview has a pre-production HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 in the lab and details how it pairs AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 with 192GB of LPDDR5X-8533 soldered around the CPU, of which up to 160GB can be allocated to the integrated GPU.
That is a large jump from the 128GB ceiling of the previous G1a, and HP paired it with a thermal redesign raising sustained power from roughly 55W to as much as 100W, which should directly improve local LLM generation speeds.
The machine moves to a 16-inch chassis with a user-replaceable 96Wh battery and Perplexity integration for on-device inference. HP plans to ship in October 2026.
