Cloudflare Moves Into Analytics Workloads With a Serverless Alternative to Dedicated Data Infrastructure

Cloudflare launches Basin, a serverless analytics platform on Apache Iceberg and R2 that avoids servers and egress fees.
SiliconANGLE's Mike Wheatley reports that Cloudflare has launched Cloudflare Basin, a serverless data platform that lets companies ingest, store, catalog and query analytical data without managing underlying servers.
Cloudflare says traditional analytics demands dedicated data engineers, complex pipelines and costly egress fees, putting it out of reach for smaller firms.
Basin is built on the open Apache Iceberg table format and Cloudflare's egress-free R2 object storage, aiming to level the playing field for small businesses and developer teams.
