Continuous Accountability for Verified Bots
Cloudflare, Friday, October 16th, 2026
Cloudflare introduces a system to evaluate and report when Verified bots start behaving badly after they are verified.
Cloudflare says verifying who operates a bot creates accountability, but trust depends on what the bot does next, since known bots can still ignore site preferences, overwhelm origins or evade controls.
Verified bots must identify themselves securely, do only what they say and avoid abusive behavior, with identity handled by Web Bot Auth and catalogued in BotBase.
Cloudflare is introducing a system that continuously evaluates Verified bot behavior and reports deviations, so it can keep answering yes to the question of whether a verified bot can be trusted.
