Anthropic describes Claude Duet as a proactive agent in research preview that uses a cloud-based computer to work on a user's behalf across connected apps and services, even when the app is closed.
It can read an inbox, draft replies, book things and run routines.
Anthropic says Duet builds on safety training in the Claude model and the safeguards used in products like Claude Code and Claude Managed Agents, plus new protections for working across accounts and acting for the user.
The company says it built Duet on three guiding principles and uses it internally every day.
