Boards Confident on Cyber Oversight, But Tech Changes Outpace Readiness

A BDO survey of more than 200 directors finds high confidence in AI and cyber oversight, but rapid technology change is outpacing readiness.
BDO surveyed more than 200 US corporate directors in June, and 80% said their board has a clear governance framework for AI adoption and cyber risk.
Only 36% were very confident their board has the right skills to oversee AI, cybersecurity and data governance, and nearly half think boards need cybersecurity expertise.
Eighty-eight percent trust management's ability to integrate emerging technology and manage cyber risk.
Even so, 57% named accelerating changes in AI and cybersecurity among their biggest concerns for the next six to 12 months, ahead of trade policy and geopolitics.
