Recovery Starts With Visibility

Commvault, Tuesday, October 27th, 2026

Commvault's ResOps series explains why recovery depends on visibility into critical services, impact tolerances and dependencies.

In part two of a five-part series on resilience operations (ResOps), Commvault argues that visibility is the foundation of recovery.

Organizations should define a minimum viable company, the critical services needed to serve customers, generate revenue and meet urgent obligations, with named business owners for each.

Each critical service needs a business-defined impact tolerance that reflects outcomes rather than simple up or down status.

Dependency mapping then reveals hidden weak points such as shared identity providers, lower-tier systems or third-party services in the recovery path, since a service is only as recoverable as its dependencies.
