Akamai Expands Its AI Cloud Platform With Dedicated Inference and Agent Execution Environments

Akamai adds Akamai Inference and Akamai Agent Sandbox to its AI Cloud platform for edge model serving and isolated agent execution.
Akamai is expanding its AI Cloud platform with Akamai Inference, a managed service offering open-weight and custom models through OpenAI-compatible APIs, and Akamai Agent Sandbox, an isolated WebAssembly-based environment for running autonomous agents on Akamai Functions.
Inference launches with 12 open-weight models, including Nvidia Nemotron 3 Ultra, OpenAI gpt-oss-120b and Google Gemma 4.
Akamai is also adding Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell clusters and plans Vera Rubin support next year.
COO Adam Karon said inference will become the main focus for most enterprises.
