Cloudflare Finds The Largest DDoS Attacks Fell 69% As Total Attacks Rose 208%

SiliconANGLE, Thursday, October 29th, 2026

Cloudflare's Q3 2026 report finds attacks above 1 Tbps fell 69% while network-layer DDoS attacks rose to 18.2 million.

Cloudflare's Q3 2026 DDoS threat report found 251 attacks above 1 Tbps, down nearly 69% from 805 in Q2, which it tentatively links to March law enforcement action against four large IoT botnets.

Network-layer attacks more than tripled year over year to 18.2 million.

About 96% of attacks ended within 10 minutes and 98% stayed under 1 Gbps, resembling DDoS-for-hire services.

Generic UDP floods rose to 31.3% while DNS floods remained most common, and the U.S. was the most attacked country.
