Fortinet Extends FortiGate Firewalls Into AI Security and Adds New FortiAIGate Features

Fortinet adds AI security to FortiGate firewalls with an inline service and expands FortiAIGate with DLP, cost controls and compliance policies.
Fortinet launched the FortiGuard Inline AI Security Service, a cloud-delivered service that brings FortiAIGate guardrails to existing FortiGate firewalls and inspects prompts to LLMs, agents, and MCP tools in real time while masking sensitive data.
Organizations with privacy or sovereignty needs can self-host FortiAIGate on Kubernetes with NVIDIA GPUs, and new features evaluate requests based on sender role, inspect text, images, video, and code, and detect 35 types of sensitive data.
Admins can set spending caps, block cost-inflating prompts, and route requests by content, policy, or cost, and the gateway adds over 50 compliance policies and full logging.
Technology from Fortinet's acquisition of Virtue AI is included.
