Report: Claude Code Exceeds GitHub Copilot for Merging Pull Requests

DevOps.com, Tuesday, October 27th, 2026

Jellyfish data shows Claude Code used in 31% of AI-assisted merged pull requests versus 23% for GitHub Copilot, with humans still reviewing.

DevOps.com reports on a Jellyfish analysis of 100 million pull requests from 276,000 developers at more than 1,300 organizations in September.

Claude Code was the AI coding tool used most often to merge pull requests at 31 percent, ahead of GitHub Copilot at 23 percent.

AI agents were involved in 28 percent of merged PRs at the median company, but only 0.5 percent were merged with AI-only review.

Median cost per merged PR fell from 1,202 to 820 dollars over a year while headcount held roughly flat, and release rates rose 48 percent, suggesting deployment processes are the next bottleneck.
