IoT Analytics analyzed 1,533 generative and agentic AI projects announced from Q4 2022 to Q1 2026, ranking applications using 734 projects from 2025 and Q1 2026.
Process optimization in operations leads at 52.2% of projects, followed by marketing content creation, customer inquiry handling and software development.
Agent-based systems rose to 13.4% of projects from 0.5% in 2022-2024, though non-agentic chatbots and assistants still make up 60.1%.
Operations has overtaken IT as the leading department, and examples include NielsenIQ cutting item-coding time by 90% and Delivery Hero merging over 170 agent-created pull requests per day.
