Quantum Threats Are Coming: Harden Your Defenses Now

Dell, Friday, October 30th, 2026

Dell urges organizations to cut harvest-now-decrypt-later exposure today while planning a phased move to post-quantum cryptography.

Ash Lakshmanan, who leads managed security services product management at Dell, warns that adversaries are already collecting encrypted data to decrypt once quantum computers mature, and argues the most effective near-term defense is preventing that data from being harvested at all.

He sets out three pillars: continuous proactive testing and fast patching, detection that extends down to hardware-level telemetry, and isolated vaults for key management artifacts and backups.

At the same time, organizations should inventory their cryptography and plan a phased PQC migration under NIST FIPS 203 to 205 and deadlines that run from 2027 to 2035.

An FAQ outlines Dell's own PQC roadmap.
