Who Owns AI Resilience? AI Recovery, Identity and Accountability
Dell, Friday, October 30th, 2026
Dell's Simon Jelley argues AI resilience needs one accountable owner and real restore tests that cover agent identities and data provenance.
Simon Jelley, who leads Dell's Cyber Resilience portfolio, argues that the AI data estate falls in the gaps between the CIO, CISO, infrastructure and legal teams, so recovery decisions stall during incidents.
He cites Omdia research commissioned by Dell: 84% say split governance leaves coverage gaps, and 83% are confident they could restore AI while only 24% prioritize testing resilience.
He says AI agent identities and authentication services are recovery dependencies, and that restored agents should get new credentials.
He recommends a Cyber Resilience Assessment, one named owner with decision rights, and isolated restore tests that are allowed to fail.
