Smplify Wants a Human Checkpoint Between AI Agents and Your Device Fleet

Computerworld, Friday, October 30th, 2026

Computerworld profiles Smplify, a headless Apple device management startup that wants a human checkpoint between AI agents and device fleets.

Smplify co-founder and COO Ben Greiner says device management still assumes a person is watching, but AI agents can now act on a fleet at machine speed.

The new vendor just announced $1 million in pre-seed funding and offers a headless tool whose functions are all available through an API and CLI.

Greiner says winning enterprises will define exactly what each agent may do and prove what it did.

The article cites OneTrust data that 87% of organizations encourage AI agents while only 47% have clear governance, and a Gartner prediction that 40% of enterprises will demote or decommission autonomous agents by 2027 due to governance gaps.
