Scaling agentic AI with confidence

CIO, Thursday, October 29th, 2026

CIO.com piece sponsored by SailPoint says identity governance can give CIOs the evidence that AI agents acted within policy as agentic AI scales.

Agents gain access to applications and data around the clock, so governance has to match their speed, and boards are asking whether AI can be trusted; the article cites Omdia research that more than half of enterprises are deploying agentic AI.

It says audit-ready context means the agent's identity and human owner, the applications and data involved, and the policies governing each decision, presented so non-technical stakeholders can follow it.

It notes agents rely on many non-human identities, up to 140 per employee in some enterprises, and can keep permissions they no longer need.

SailPoint's Neil McGlennon says without this, AI stalls at the pilot stage.
