The Prototyping Tax Is Killing Your AI Roadmap

Databricks argues fragmented context and API boundaries stall AI projects, and platform-native agents remove that overhead.
Databricks describes a prototyping tax made up of fragmented context, siloed domain knowledge and API boundaries that stalls AI initiatives between idea and working prototype. The company argues this kills momentum before teams can ship anything.
Platform-native agents grounded in business semantics, such as Databricks Genie combined with Unity Catalog, eliminate the tax by giving agents governed context from the start.
Databricks reports 77% accuracy for that approach against 56 to 72% for general coding agents, at roughly half the cost. It cites Abacus Insights cutting new-client onboarding time by about 50% and reducing manual work.
